| I'm
realizing that Summer's at it's end. Looking back I've
accomplished more than I had hoped for. My room is so clean and
organized!!
Bass Trombone performance is looking great, also getting into the music
school earlier than I anticipated. I got to teach trombone
throughout the summer and will have students for the school year.
I've been invited to play in the Nova Jazz Orchestra, and I've gotten
more work with my brass quartet.
I went to see DCI finals, for the first time, and I got to do it with
my bone friends, on a road trip, with Monty Python, and Aladdin!
I even joined Minnesota Brass at random, and that season is coming to a
close so much faster than I'd like it to. I didn't expect senior
corp. to be so much fun!
Now I have to get ready for spat camp with the U. I'll miss some
of it due to MBI, but it's okay! DCA finals will be a road trip
returning the 4th. (night before classes start) On the 5th I have my
ensemble audition. I won't see my bass bone for about 5 days
prior, so I'll be BSing my rep. and pedal/double octave scales.
I'm really excited to see all the bones again! ... and be a freshman~!

| Got my Bass Bone back last night. That was a happy night. I sqeualed with joy when I played it again. It's awesome now, I can hit an F# in 1st position,I can even utilize the D in 1st position, no more trigger1 to 4, or 6 to 4 on dotted 16ths. Its all in 1st with triggers. I can even trill pedal tones now. Ahhhhh happiness is dual triggs, I'm flippin' trigger happy. Eric did an awesome repair job. He fixed a buncha little quirks with my horn. He was so considerate to do that.
Camp in the morning. Field lining with some of the section, and some of the trumpets.
Parade on Sunday. woooo .. woo.

| I love music a little more each day.
I had to leave my Bass Trombone to get updated before I left to Indiana. The repair man lives in Northish Minneapolis, I had never been there, and had to drop the horn off at night. He seemed a little skiddish, and kind of afraid of people. He invites me into his house, but I'm not sure where to go.. because inside, there's nothing but boxes... everywhere. I manage to get my horn to him and he pulls me into what would appear to be the main room. He ran of to get paper-work for me, somewhere in the labyrinth of boxes I heard a dog yapping. It was really a trip. I called to retrieve it on Wednesday. A woman answered the phone; (he's married?) He forgot about my horn. He didn't know who I was, and asked what I had left with him. He is supposed to be the best brass repair man around, but he sure scares me. I still haven't gotten my horn back yet, I was promised it to be done yesterday.
I miss my trombone dearly. I have to play music at least 2 hours each day. I've worked on the MBI show music consistently, and on the Euphonium in general. I decided to practice classical music on the Euphonium, so I could at least get that in. I never truly appreciated the trombone instrumental counterparts of the valve variety before today. I learned Bydlo from Pictures at an Exhibition on that Euph, and I know a trombone would never sound like that.
Life is great even though I'm having Drum Corp. people withdrawl now that were not around eachother as much. It was a painful, but amazing expereince to march a Euphonium those four shows.

| I like Box Monster.
I want to do that.
Guthrie
opening tomorrow. Looks like a fun time. Couple good brass groups to
show, so it'll be enjoyable. I feel sorry for my friend's mom who's
catering for this event. 5,000 people expected. Yikes. My
new Trombone instructor is John Tranter. Bass Bone sub for MN
Orchestra and a regular at the SPCO. I thought his last name was Trantor
for a long time, and I got sick of replaying what he said to me in
"John Tranter says.." So I began using 'TrantOR says.." Then I
realized it sounded more like a cult that way..*chuckles* - but music
is a type of cult I suppose. | | |
